Designed in the Maison des Metiers d'Art located at La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, the new Ronde Louis Cartier Filigree luxury watch revives the age-old unique filigree technique in order to receive a charming picturesque result. The use of such an ancient and extraordinary method once again confirms the Cartier mission – to perpetuate forgotten techniques such as the use of granulation technology in 2013. The ancient art of filigree was firstly incorporated into jewelry by the Sumerians in 3000 BC, and then it was reborn in Egypt in the period of early antiquity. Its development is also attributed to India, Tibet, Iran, Greece, and - much later - Portugal, thus reaching a qualitatively new level of mastery. Being translucent like lace filigree is a jewelry art, in which gold or silver wires are soldered together to form an openwork grid with the desired pattern. Cartier's task was not only in the adapting of this technique to the limited dimensions of the designer watch case, but also in its elevation by selecting the best materials, such as gold, platinum and diamonds.

To create the Ronde Louis Cartier Filigree high-end watch talented craftsmen of the Maison des Metiers d'Art worked with platinum micro-wires and beaten gold with the help of special equipment specially designed on the brand's manufactory. Curled, rolled and cut into pieces, the wires with the help of "lacy" filigree technique were connected together, but not attached to the dial. More than a month was needed to create this piece of fine watches with a couple of panthers on the dial, whose glossy lacquered coat was perfectly woven from gold and platinum filigree elements set with diamonds. Dressed in brocade these royal creatures, two panthers, are looking at each other with their emerald eyes. Delicate cat silhouettes are located on a background of the starry sky and framed by diamond inlay partially hidden by the pattern. This masterpiece combines numerous techniques starting with incrustation and finishing with gold filigree, jewelry and watchmaking art, engraving and lacquering - thousands of nuances in order to give a panther, symbol of the Cartier luxury watch brand , a rare beauty, grace and decorated with lace finesse.

The Ronde Louis Cartier Filigree designer watch comes from a limited edition of 20 numbered pieces. It is equipped with a mechanical manual winding movement with the 430 MC caliber. The 42 mm case is made of 18 karat yellow gold and decorated with diamonds. Its thickness is 8 mm. The blue dial also set with brilliant-cut diamonds contains 18 karat yellow gold apple-shaped hands and two filigree panthers made of 22 karat yellow gold and 950/1000 platinum with emerald eyes. In addition, this luxury watch features a beaded crown adorned with a brilliant-cut diamond and a dark blue alligator leather strap.
